Operations Center Renamed in Honor of Visionary Leader Claudia B. Green

July 20, 2026

El Paso, Texas — Raiz Federal Credit Union announced the renaming of its Operations Center at 1241 Pullman Dr. to the “Claudia B. Green Operations Center” during a ceremony on Thursday, July 16. The tribute recognizes Claudia B. Green, former President and CEO, for her decades of dedicated leadership that transformed Raiz (formerly El Paso Area Teachers Federal Credit Union) into a thriving, community-focused institution.

Claudia B. Green’s impact extended well beyond expanding Raiz’s reach from a single branch to a regional network serving thousands. She also contributed her expertise to organizations such as the Salvation Army, United Way of El Paso County, YWCA, Southwest Corporate Credit Union, and El Paso Affordable Housing CUSO. Claudia championed financial empowerment, believing it could open doors for families and strengthen the community.

As one of the first Black women in the nation to lead a major financial institution, Claudia broke barriers and inspired others through her advocacy for the underserved. Her leadership fostered a culture of inclusion at Raiz, ensuring every member felt valued. That spirit continues to guide Raiz’s mission today.

“Naming our Operations Center for Claudia is a tribute to her lasting impact,” said Max Villaronga, President and CEO of Raiz FCU. “Her compassion and people-first approach shaped both Raiz and the El Paso community for generations. Claudia’s door was always open, her advice practical, and her heart with our members. We strive every day to continue her spirit of service.”

The dedication ceremony brought together Raiz Board members, President and CEO Max Villaronga, the Senior Leadership Team, current and former staff, and many of Mrs. Green’s friends and family. City of El Paso Mayor Renard Johnson also joined the celebration, sharing heartfelt memories of knowing the Green family and the honor he had in being able to support the approval of naming a street in the Edgemere and Vista del Este neighborhoods “Claudia Green Drive.”

The ceremony concluded with a reception where leaders, colleagues, and loved ones shared stories and tributes, reflecting her lasting impact on those around her.
