City of El Paso Proclamation: Raiz 90th Anniversary Day

El Paso, Texas—The City of El Paso, led by Mayor Renard Johnson and the City Council, officially proclaimed August 4, 2026, as “Raiz 90th Anniversary Day.” This honor celebrated Raiz’s nine decades of service and marked a renewed commitment to advancing financial empowerment, wellness, and inclusivity across El Paso.

During a formal presentation at City Hall, Mayor Johnson joined Raiz CEO and President Max Villaronga, Raiz Board of Directors and Senior Leadership, and city leaders in recognizing the credit union’s legacy and its bold vision for the future. The event highlighted Raiz’s ongoing pledge to expand access to financial services and foster a healthier, more resilient community for all El Pasoans, especially those in historically underserved neighborhoods.

As we mark our 90th year, we are honored by the City of El Paso’s proclamation, reflecting our commitment to serving and uplifting our members and community. This occasion celebrates our history and encourages new partnerships and initiatives that strengthen every part of our city.

Mayor Renard Johnson added, “We know how much work went into getting Raiz [Federal Credit Union] to where you are today. You do such a good job in our community, supporting so many organizations… [awarding] scholarships, and all the great things that [Raiz] does [for our city]. Congratulations on 90 years, let’s do another 90!”

Raiz’s commitment to El Paso extends beyond banking. As a supporter of the El Paso Museums and Cultural Affairs Department, Raiz sponsors community events like Chalk the Block. This event, held every fall, highlights art and creativity downtown, featuring professional and student artists, as well as local vendors. Raiz was also an early sponsor of Live Active EP, a citywide movement encouraging health, wellness, and community connection through fitness, nutrition, and mental well-being. Launched during the COVID-19 pandemic, Live Active EP continues to help El Pasoans stay strong through ongoing health challenges.

As Raiz celebrates this milestone, the credit union continues a series of city-focused initiatives to expand financial education, support small businesses, and increase access to affordable banking solutions. These programs and events will continue throughout the year.
