Honoring Educators: Raiz’s Legacy of Supporting Teachers in Our Community

January 27, 2026

At Raiz Federal Credit Union, recognizing and honoring educators is more than a tradition—it’s at the heart of who we are. Our roots run deep in the education community, dating back to our founding as El Paso Area Teachers Federal Credit Union. From the beginning, our mission has been to serve and uplift teachers. Today, we continue that commitment by celebrating those who shape the future of our region.

Teacher of the Month: A Tribute to Dedication

Every month, Raiz proudly spotlights outstanding educators who go above and beyond for their students and the communities they serve. Our Teacher of the Month collaboration with KTSM 9 News is a way to thank these remarkable individuals, share their stories, and remind everyone of the lasting impact great teachers make.

Mr. Christopher Diaz has dedicated 23 years to teaching in the Ysleta Independent School District, all at Hanks Middle School. He teaches history and coaches multiple sports, making a meaningful impact in and out of the classroom. Inspired to teach after volunteering during college, Mr. Diaz values building connections with students and making history engaging. He advises future educators to focus on purpose and always do what’s best for students. Humble about his achievements, Mr. Diaz credits his fellow teachers and is grateful to work alongside a dedicated team. His passion and commitment make him an outstanding role model at Hanks Middle School.
